Julia Roberts is a pretty remarkable woman

Julia-Roberts-julia-roberts-742864_1280_800A 42-year-old Hollywood star coming out against Botox? It’s like a Playboy Playmate shunning breast implants. Julia Roberts, who recently announced she converted to Hinduism after filming Eat Pray Love, is not planning on getting Botox.  Roberts told Elle magazine she thinks it’s unfortunate that “we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons.”

I know models in their late 20s in Miami already getting Botox. There are also reports from CBS News that 18-year-old “Glee” singer Charice got Botox injections and an anti-aging procedure “to look fresh on camera.” This is sending a twisted message to young people, but particularly young women. We’ve all seen that plastic surgery nightmare woman prancing around Town Center at Boca Raton or the Bal Harbour Shoppes. It’s not pretty when humans alter their face over and over again in an attempt to defy time. Bruce Jenner, Joan Rivers, Mickey Rourke and socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein come to mind when I think of people who took it too far. I applaud Roberts for passing on the plastic surgery train.

Roberts also told CBS News she wants her children to “to know when I’m pissed, when I’m happy, and when I’m confounded. Your face tells a story… and it shouldn’t be a story about your drive to the doctor’s office.”

That’s definitely advice to pray for and love.
