The 48-degree weather in Jupiter, Fla. over the weekend prevented Joan Jett from donning her usual stage threads–a skimpy vinyl bustier or bikini top. Jett and the Blackhearts opened their set with “Bad Reputation” and ignited the stage at Carlin Park with several songs from the Runaways such as “Cherry Bomb,” “You Drive Me Wild,” which was the first song she ever wrote, “School Days” and “I Love Playing With Fire.” Jett came to South Florida to host a benefit for Safe Harbor’s 23rd Annual Celebrity Dog Wash Festival. The animal-loving vegetarian is also a PETA supporter.
She performed crowd favorites “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” “Crimson and Clover” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.” And I was particularly impressed with the tunes from her 2006 release, Sinner. “A.C.D.C.” and “Naked” are both kickass songs that are highly underrated.
A new version of her greatest hits comes out tomorrow (March 9th).
The 2-disk album will include several songs from the Runaways as well as Jett’s hit singles and covers including “Everyday People” and “Androgynous.” I am totally counting down the days until The Runaways movie comes out March 19th!
