Have you ever stepped into a high end store, glanced at designer items and wondered why on earth it costs as much as a car payment or in some cases, a mortgage payment? Some items are worth the price such as a Gucci Boston bag. It’s timeless season after season and it’s a wardrobe investment. But here are some fashion finds that in this economy simply beg the question…Why?
1.Comme des Garcons East/West Tartan Tote; originally $290, now on sale for $121.79 at Saksfifthavenue.com. This tote bag looks like something you’d find at Wal-Mart or Old Navy. While it’s a cute tote, it shouldn’t cost more than $12.
2. D&G checkered swim trunks; $275 at Saksfifthavenue.com. There is nothing extraordinary about these standard swim trunks other than the price. This suit will sink your wallet before you even step into the sea.
3. Gucci Sleeveless Viscose Top; $595 at Saksfifthavenue.com. I don’t care whose designer label is inside this basic shirt. You could get an almost identical shirt at Banana Republic for $25.
4. Gucci Charlotte Flat Riding Boot; $6,200 at Neimanmarcus.com. Yes, they’re made out of alligator and shockingly, many sizes of the shoe have already sold out. While the boots are amazing, there’s no reason to murder a gator when croc embossed leather has the same look at a fraction of the price.
5. Loro Piana Scialle Singita gray shawl; $3,995 at Saksfifthavenue.com. While this cashmere shawl made in Italy is beautiful, instead of buying it, you could actually take a trip to Italy. Now that would be even more beautiful.
