My weight loss chronicles began in my March 9th Glamazon column. I have been following a Center For Medical Weight Loss diet since Feb. 16 and was thrilled to lose 17 pounds. I’m currently down 16 pounds–but elated to discover my week long cruise on the Emerald Princess to the Caribbean didn’t capsize my weight loss.
The temptation on the ship was intense. I got used to eating three multi-course meals a day and had a little too much fun at the Skywalker lounge at night with my old friend, Patrón. But unlike previous vacations I’ve taken, I went into it with a healthier mindset. I avoided the buffets with the exception of two late night snacks. I had treated myself to some newer, smaller dresses before I set sail. And for the first time ever, I was able to zip up my evening gowns on the trip without a girdle and a long prayer session.
I visited the on-board gym a couple times, played mini-golf with my uncle and took the stairs as much as I could. It was a rude awakening to realize how out of breath walking just a few stairs makes me, but I’m working on it. I’m learning how to taste food now without feeling an obligation to completely clean my plate. And nothing puts a better taste in my mouth than looking back at my vacation photos and only seeing one chin.
